Dulce Base: the alien base the Air Force talked into existence

Under a mesa in Dulce, New Mexico: a 7-level alien base, or so the internet says 🛸

We searched the government's UFO files for "Dulce". 0 results.

But the files do show who built the legend 🧵

1979, Albuquerque. Physicist Paul Bennewitz records "pulsed microwaves from a testing ground at Kirtland" Air Force base. He decides they're UFOs controlling "abductees" with implants.

That's from a 1999 French defence study, COMETA (p.74).

The Air Force noticed. COMETA: the Air Force Office of Special Investigation "and, namely, its special agent Doty" … "induced him to make fantastic 'revelations'": kidnappings, implants, joint human-alien bases in New Mexico (p.74).

Bennewitz went public and later put the base under Archuleta Mesa, near Dulce. Others piled on: John Lear added Area 51 (p.75).

Why feed him? COMETA: it "probably permitted the protection of research on microwave weapons at Kirtland" (p.75).

Kirtland had form. 14 April 1956: a secret CIA U-2 flames out over Tennessee and glides 300+ miles to Kirtland. Orders: "get it inside a hanger as quickly as possible". An air policeman said the pilot in his pressure suit "looked like a man from Mars" (CIA history, p.92).

And Kirtland's own OSI office was filing "UNKNOWN (Aerial Phenomena)" reports in 1949: green fireballs over Sandia. "In none of the reported incidents has any natural or man-made object been determined to be responsible" (D017 p.71).

Bonus: alien underground bases are older than Dulce. A 1966 saucer-club journal in the FBI's UFO file: a man who "visited their undersea and underground bases on our planet" (p.9).

Why did the FBI keep it? A reader thought it pushed the "Communist Party (CP) line" (p.18) 😅

The pattern has a name. AARO, 2024: the reverse-engineering legend is "in large part, the result of circular reporting" (p.9). AARO never mentions Dulce, but Dulce is the textbook case: one fed source, retold until it sounds confirmed.

France's COMETA report, 1999: where the legend started

p.74: "The point of departure is the Bennewicz case" (the translation's spelling). He "recorded pulsed microwaves from a testing ground at Kirtland (New Mexico) Air Force base" and blamed UFOs. The Air Force Office of Special Investigation "and, namely, its special agent Doty" … "induced him to make fantastic 'revelations'": kidnappings, implants, bases shared with "EBEs". p.75: this disinformation "has probably permitted the protection of research on microwave weapons at Kirtland".

Kirtland, 14 April 1956: the secret U-2 and the "man from Mars"

pp.91-92: a CIA U-2 flames out over Tennessee and glides more than 300 miles to Kirtland. The base is told to "keep everyone away from the craft and get it inside a hanger as quickly as possible". The base commander: "It's not a plane, it's a glider!" An air policeman: the pilot in his "space" suit "looked like a man from Mars".

p.70: the 17th District Office of Special Investigations at Kirtland Air Force Base, 18 May 1949, subject "UNKNOWN (Aerial Phenomena)". p.71, on the green fireballs: "In none of the reported incidents has any natural or man-made object been determined to be responsible."

1966: "underground bases" in the FBI's UFO file

p.9: a saucer-club journal (AFSCA, 1966) on a contactee who "visited their undersea and underground bases on our planet" and got messages from "the planet Korendor". p.18: the FBI kept it because a reader believed an article "expounded the Communist Party (CP) line".

AARO, 2024: "circular reporting"

p.9: the claim that the government reverse-engineers alien technology is "in large part, the result of circular reporting from a group of individuals who believe this to be the case, despite the lack of any evidence." (AARO's report does not mention Dulce or Bennewitz.)
